What is your name?
My name is Rehana Samat
What is your position at GroundProbe?
I am the Manager – Finance Business Partner, based in Brisbane
How long have you been working for GroundProbe?
I have been working for GroundProbe for 12 years
What makes your job at GroundProbe Unique?
Looking back over my time here at GroundProbe, no two years have been the same. This variety ensures challenging and exciting work while facilitating a positive career path and personal growth. The ever-evolving nature of the business is a unique aspect of GroundProbe.
And even though I work in finance, my remit is broad because, as a team, we assist all business units in various ways. This is supported by my mantra of “causal analysis, financial modelling and value add’ = not just ‘bean counting’ or ‘number crunching’ but providing a business solution.
Why do you love what you do?
GroundProbe has such a lovely, nurturing culture. When I began working here, I was a new mum; now one is a pre-teen and the other a teenager! During my 12 years, I have evolved and grown as a person, a mother and a professional. GroundProbe has allowed me to take care of my family while making a meaningful contribution towards the organisation’s growth objectives, including helping nurture and mentor my peers and newer team members. The facilitation of a balanced approach that permeates the culture of GroundProbe is indeed a USP to be proud of!
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I made Brisbane home after migrating from Sri Lanka 16+ years ago. I have work experience from Sri Lanka, the UK, and now Australia across manufacturing, infrastructure, investment and now engineering/tech industries.
Anything else you would like to add?
I love to build meaningful relationships with the people around me and invest in their growth.
And ultimately, I strive to set an example for my kids, but right now, my favourite four-legged child is my fur baby (Bailey = dog) 🙂
