INTRODUCING MUHAMMAD IKHSAN NASRULLAH
A Journey of Safety and Learning Across West Africa
At GroundProbe, our people are at the heart of everything we do. They drive our mission to make mining operations safer and more efficient around the world.
Today, we introduce you to M. Ikhsan Nasrullah, a valued GroundProbe Coordinator Geotechnical Engineer based at our Balikpapan Office in Indonesia, whose recent journey across West Africa embodies our commitment to excellence.
From Balikpapan to West Africa: A Mission of Safety
Ikhsan’s mission took him to the Iduapriem Mine in Ghana and the Agbou and Ity Mines in Ivory Coast, where he provided critical GSS (Ground Stability System) training to GroundProbe customers. This training is more than just a transfer of knowledge—it’s a lifeline that equips local teams with the skills to operate advanced radar technology, ensuring ground stability and safeguarding lives.
For Ikhsan, this journey was a rare opportunity for hands-on engagement with customers, directly impacting their ability to prevent potential ground failures.
“Through our on-site training, we aim to deepen our partners’ understanding of radar technology and monitoring processes,” he explains. “We strive for a shared understanding of how slope monitoring systems can be optimally implemented to ensure safety for our partners and their loved ones.”
A Path of Growth and Dedication
Ikhsan’s journey with GroundProbe began in January 2020 as a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer. Since then, his dedication and commitment to learning have propelled him through the ranks to become a Junior Geotechnical Engineer, a Geotechnical Engineer, and now, a Coordinator Geotechnical Engineer. Each step in his career has been marked by a desire to expand his knowledge and impact.
Reflecting on his approach to continuous learning, Ikhsan shares a philosophy that guides his work:
“In life, there are three types of events: those we control completely, those we have some control over, and those we cannot control. Learning is the process of enhancing our control from one stage to the next.”
This belief is central to his role in training others, helping them move from a stage of limited control to greater mastery over their environment.
Building a Culture of Safety and Excellence
Ikhsan’s mission in West Africa is a testament to the vital role of education and training in the mining industry. By providing this essential training, he is helping GroundProbe’s customers in West Africa make the most of our technology and contributing to a broader culture of safety and excellence in mining.
As he continues his journey with GroundProbe, Ikhsan remains committed to learning and teaching, ensuring our partners have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. His work reminds us that at GroundProbe, we are not only focussed on technology but also on safety, knowledge, and empowerment.
