This International Women’s Day (IWD), we’re sitting down with Sandra Palacio, our Business Analyst in Software, to talk about her journey, her thoughts on gender equality, and the advice that’s carried her through her career.

Sandra’s personal philosophy? “Smile always.” And from the moment you meet her, it’s clear she lives by it. For Sandra, joining GroundProbe three years ago was more than just finding a job —it was about finding the right culture.

“I was initially drawn in by the challenges and flexibility but when I visited the company, I saw something different—the people, the energy, the collaboration. That’s when I knew this was where I wanted to be.”

Since then, she’s found her biggest highlights have always been about the people.

“The team here is incredible—everyone is so friendly and willing to help. It’s not just about working together; it’s about achieving something bigger as a team.”

And through it all, she brings a positive attitude that keeps her going.

“No matter what challenges come my way, I remind myself to ‘Smile Always.’ It helps shift my mindset, stay motivated, and keep things in perspective.”

Sandra sees International Women’s Day as more than a celebration—it’s a reminder of progress and possibility.

“It’s a time when people, regardless of gender, come together to recognise women’s achievements. But for me, the most powerful part is hearing women’s stories. They remind me that success isn’t just about what you achieve, but also about how you inspire and uplift others.”

That sense of motivation has guided her career journey. With a strong background in C#, .NET, Angular, and Azure, she spent years honing her technical skills. But in 2024, she took on a new challenge, transitioning into a Business Analyst role and diving deeper into the world of UX—bringing a fresh perspective to creating user-friendly experiences.

Her Best Career Advice?

“Bet on Yourself”

When asked about the best career advice she’s ever received, Sandra doesn’t hesitate:

“It actually came from me!”

Her mantra?

“You can achieve whatever you set your mind to. Every time I face a new challenge; I remind myself I have the skills. I have the ability. I can figure this out. With the right mindset and hard work, anything is possible.”

It’s an attitude that’s carried her through her career in software development, where staying adaptable and continuously learning is key. And, of course, a smile never hurts.

Starting a new job can be daunting, but Sandra has some simple advice for anyone joining the company.

“If you’ve been hired at GroundProbe, it’s because you have what it takes. So don’t stress too much—embrace the culture, enjoy the experience, and maximise the opportunities here.”
