Meet Nathã Shadday: From transport service provider to Radar Operator at GroundProbe Brazil.

Sometimes, life takes an unexpected turn that changes everything. For Nathã Shadday, a radar operator at GroundProbe Brazil, that moment came in 2017 when he began working with us as a transport service provider. During this time, engaging in discussions on engineering and structural safety business opportunities sparked his interest, allowing Nathã to leverage his engineering background to provide valuable insights.

The turning point came in 2019 during a meeting with Joao Paulo in the Ouro Preto neighbourhood of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. This meeting marked the beginning of the next chapter in Nathã’s career. Recognised for his potential and expertise, he was thrilled to join the monitoring team as a Geotechnical Analyst, embarking on a fulfilling journey at GroundProbe.

At the time, the Brazilian team was thriving but poised for significant growth. Today, GPBR represents one of GroundProbe’s fastest-growing teams, and Nathã fondly recalls his early days as

“The beginning of a great project”

Nathã’s journey in engineering began long before 2019. A 2015 Kennedy School of Engineering graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering, he dreamed of making a mark in geotechnical analysis. His career started as a draftsperson, and he worked his way through roles as an intern, engineering assistant, and negotiator at MRV Engenharia, gaining diverse experiences along the way. By the time he joined GroundProbe, he was ready to take on the challenges and rewards of geotechnical monitoring.

Recently, when celebrating his fifth anniversary with us, Nathã reflected on his journey with gratitude and a big smile. Surrounded by his colleagues, Nathã appreciated the opportunities and support shaping his career, crediting his teammates for their invaluable role in helping him build his GroundProbe experience.

Nathã describes his role as a Radar Operator as dynamic and rewarding. From working in the field with cutting-edge radar technologies and enjoying team outings to delivering engaging training sessions for customers, his efforts have ensured the stability and safety of critical structures like dams, piles, and pits. He takes pride in contributing to GroundProbe’s mission of delivering innovation and excellence in geotechnical monitoring.

Looking back on his career journey, Nathã finds continuous inspiration in a favourite quote by Martin Luther King Jr.
