Introducing Simon Velasquez, Technical Lead Software, Australia

Today, we’re proud to introduce Simon Velasquez, our Technical Lead – Software, who has been a key member of our Brisbane-based team for over five years. Simon’s journey began with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Antioquia and an Advanced Diploma in Project Management from the Australian Pacific College — a solid foundation that has supported his technical and leadership growth at GroundProbe.

Simon joined GroundProbe in July 2019 as a part-time Technical Services Support Officer. This role shaped his deep understanding of customer needs and technical solutions. Acting as the vital link between customers and the development team, Simon ensured expectations were met and exceeded. His early responsibilities included equipment testing, direct support, and delivering training, all aimed at aligning GroundProbe’s technology with customer demands seamlessly.

People working in the field, directly managing customer expectations and requests, need a clear single point of contact. This role taught me the importance of clear communication and how crucial it is to align our services with what customers really need.

For nearly four years, Simon has thrived as Technical Lead—Software, focusing on MonitorIQ, GroundProbe’s powerful data management platform. He oversees data aggregation from multiple sources to enable thorough and efficient analysis. Simon’s role is critical in defining project scopes and implementation strategies, ensuring smooth deployments and ongoing IT infrastructure maintenance.

Simon notes that managing data from diverse sources can be complex, but GroundProbe’s data aggregation platform simplifies this challenge, making data readily accessible for smarter, faster decision-making. His work not only addresses current customer needs but also paves the way for future innovation.
