The Orica Innovation Summit, held on 27-28 November 2024 at the Tanica Building in Chile, brought together influential leaders and experts from the mining sector to explore cutting-edge technological solutions. This exclusive event highlighted how innovation is transforming the future of mining, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

One of the summit’s key moments was the presentation by Paulo Aguilera, Orica’s Business Manager for Latin America, and Ben Moke, GroundProbe’s Senior Manager.

Together, they shared insights into Orica’s technological applications, particularly through its integration platforms like Geosolutions. These platforms are revolutionising operations in mining, tailings, dams, and civil works.

Paulo emphasised the importance of understanding the practical applications of Orica’s solutions, particularly how they benefit customers directly:

“The Innovation Summit is not just about showcasing new technologies. It’s about hearing from the customers themselves and understanding their needs. By doing so, we can continue to improve our solutions, making mining operations safer and more efficient.”

During their presentation, Paulo and Ben explained how Orica Digital Solutions, like Geosolutions and its integration platforms, help improve safety and efficiency. These technologies allow companies to better manage and monitor their mining sites, ensuring sustainable practices and increasing productivity.

Ben echoed Paulos’s sentiments, highlighting the significance of collaboration in driving innovation:

These technologies are being implemented by major players in the industry, including Codelco, Antucoya, Teck, and Minera Candelaria, to name a few.

The event also featured insightful panel discussions, including a “Technology Roadmap” session with Francisca Saieh, Director of Auscham, and Ximena López Gálmez, General Manager of Auscham.
