A Busy Month for Our GroundProbe Brazilian Team
At GroundProbe, we’re always excited to see the accomplishments and activities of our global teams. Our Brazilian team had a particularly eventful month filled with learning, collaboration, and growth. Their dedication to advancing knowledge and strengthening connections was fully displayed from participating in major industry events to conducting technical workshops.
Let’s take a closer look at some of their recent highlights…
Izabely Moeira Represents GroundProbe at Dams Week 2024
One of the most noteworthy events this month was Izabely Moeira, a Radar Operator from GroundProbe Brazil (GPBR) Operations, representing us at Dams Week 2024. Organized by the Brazilian Dams Committee (CBDB), this prestigious event brings together professionals and leaders from around the globe to discuss critical issues related to dam engineering, construction, and management. Topics such as dam safety, climate change impacts, and new technological advancements in dam monitoring were central to the discussions.
During the event, Izabely presented a lecture on the application of ground-based radar in dam monitoring. She shared insights into how GroundProbe’s radar technology works, supported by practical case studies emphasizing its importance in detecting movements and risks early on.
Reflecting on her experience, Izabely said,
“I had the pleasure of presenting a lecture on the application of ground-based radar in dam monitoring, covering everything from the basic principles of radar to practical case studies demonstrating its effectiveness in detecting movements and potential risks in advance, enabling quick and effective decision-making.”
Izabely’s participation showcased the value of GroundProbe’s technology and allowed her to engage with professionals from various fields, learn from their expertise, and share her knowledge.
“It was extremely rewarding, challenging, and enriching to share knowledge with various professionals about this technology and its impact on risk management. I also had the opportunity to learn from other professionals and exchange experiences with experts in the sector. I feel grateful for contributing to such a relevant topic and for being able to represent GroundProbe at this event,” she added.
GroundProbe Brazil Technical Team and GSS Workshop with Célio Carvalho
In August, the GPBR Technical Team participated in a workshop with GroundProbe’s Geotechnical Support Services (GSS) team to deepen their understanding of data analysis. The workshop, led by Radar Operator Célio Carvalho, focused on enhancing the team’s ability to evaluate data generated by GroundProbe radars while fostering a collaborative learning environment.
The session covered a wide range of technical topics, including:
- Geoprocessing and geographic information systems
- Altimetry and geodesic systems
- Interferometric science and wave physics
- Understanding acquired data
- Analysis of data quality parameters
- Alarms and alerts
- The importance of geotechnical monitoring
For Célio, who has been with GroundProbe for under two years, leading the workshop was a significant opportunity to share his knowledge and engage with his colleagues. Reflecting on the experience, Célio said,
“It was very gratifying to meet with the entire team, both in person and remotely, to share knowledge and see new ideas emerge. I had the opportunity to present and discuss various topics related to geotechnical monitoring with our technical specialists, who are key in delivering quality service. I am thankful to my managers for their trust and for the opportunity to represent our monitoring team at the workshop.”
Looking Ahead
Whether through industry conferences like Dams Week or internal technical workshops, our GPBR team continues to embody GroundProbe’s values of growth, innovation, and teamwork. By participating in these events, they strengthen their expertise and contribute to the success of GroundProbe’s global mission to support the mining and infrastructure industries.
