Geoforce aims to be the leading Australian provider of "smart" subsurface mapping by combining innovative geophysical techniques with conventional approaches. By characterising the subsurface we can reduce our client's project risk in a cost effective and efficient manner. Our focus is on understanding our client's problems and providing solutions not just technologies.

As the capability of individual approaches is site specific, we offer a range of different options. In keeping with this focus, Geoforce is continuously developing and adapting newer and smarter approaches. Geoforce can provide geophysical solutions to determine rock strength and shear wave modulus, and the detection of cavities and pinnacles in limestone and clay lenses in sand.

A summary of the geophysical techniques available for engineering and construction applications are as follows (but not limited to):

  • Airborne Electromagnetic Surveying - SKYTEM is An approach for high definition detailed cross-sectional mapping for groundwater exploration, paleochannel mapping, salinity, characterisation and mapping of other geological features.
  • Seismics - refraction, seismic reflection and Multiple Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) can provide rock strength and shear wave modulus.
  • Conductivity logging - mapping of geological features.
  • Shallow Electromagnetics (TEM and FEM) - numerous techniques designed for various applications and depths of investigation.
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) - identification of buried services, structural cracks, geological boundaries, limestone cavities and pinnacles.
  • Borehole Radar (BHR) - identification of services, structural cracks, geological features, limestone cavities and pinnacles.
  • Magnetics - subsurface structures, buried services.
  • Radiometrics - surface soil mapping.
  • Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI) - mapping of water table, clay lenses and geological boundaries.
  • Induced Polarization (IP) - by mapping chargeability, IP can distinguish clays from salt water in the subsurface.
